Membership

CDYC is a sailing club made up of many different individuals and families from around the region. Anyone wanting to sail on Lake Decatur is welcome to become a member. Regular members are entitled to store their sailboat at the club year-round for a very affordable price. Associate Members who demonstrate proficiency may check out club keelboats for free. Whether you are a seasoned sailing veteran or a novice wanting to learn how to sail, this club is for you. Social events are part of the club atmosphere as well. Learn to Sail 

Associate Members (only $100/year) can learn to sail for free and sail club-owned sailboats for free.

CDYC members get free access to sailing online courses at sailboatinstructor.com and have the option register for Boat Handling Clinics. Develop your skills and build confidence at these clinics as more experienced sailors show you the ropes. Once you demonstrate proficiency, you can check out and sail on of our Compac 16s or sail on our San Juan 21 and invite family and friends to enjoy a fun day on the lake. 

Learn to Race

Commodore Decatur Yacht Club is home to Flying Scot Fleet #215. Fleet 215 conducts boat handling clinics and coaches racers who participate in Flying Scot Midwest District Regattas. Relaxed Beer Can Races follow each clinic.  

Flying Scot racers are recreational racers who want to have fun and get better.  Stick around for a relaxed Beer Can race and give it try.  Almost all of our sailors never imagined themselves as sailboat racers, but gave it a try and couldn't resist the fellowship and fun.
